ICWIM10 / HVTT19 – Slovenia

Following the successful joint event in 2023 in Brisbane, the boards of ISWIM (International Society for Weigh-In-Motion) and HVTT (Heavy Vehicle Transport Technology Forum) selected Ljubljana, Slovenia, as the venue for the joint ICWIM10/HVTT19 conference in 2027.

Venue & location

The venue for the event is the iconic Art Nouveau Grand Hotel Union, a landmark in the heart of Ljubljana at the gateway to its charming pedestrian zone. With over 120 years of tradition, this historic hotel has welcomed distinguished guests such as Queen Elizabeth II and President Bill Clinton, and has hosted countless prestigious congresses and conferences.

The exhibition will be set in the elegant Grand Foyer and the Garden Hall, both seamlessly connected to the magnificent Secession-style auditorium, which accommodates up to 500 participants. Conference rooms for parallel sessions are conveniently located on the balcony level, ensuring effortless connectivity for delegates and exhibitors.

• Technical tours will be organised on May 13.
• Many of Slovenia’s most popular attractions—such as Lake Bled, the Postojna Cave, the Lipizzaner horse stud farm, and the wine-growing regions—are located less than an hour’s drive from Ljubljana.
• An accompanying persons’ program will be arranged in case of sufficient interest.

Submission options & templates

Authors will have the choice to submit either a full-length conference paper or an extended abstract, depending on the scope and maturity of the work they wish to present. Full-length papers of 6-10 pages will be published in a formal indexed conference proceedings, pending the finalisation of an agreement with Elsevier. Extended abstracts of 3-6 pages—better suited to practise-related work, case studies, or preliminary results—will be published in a separate extended abstract proceedings.

We have now prepared the extended abstract template, which is available for authors to begin using. The full paper template will be made available shortly, pending the agreement with Elsevier.

The two submission routes are summarised below.

Full paper – Elsevier proceedings:

• Format: Full-length conference paper with a research focus (6–10 pages)
• Publication: Formal Elsevier conference proceedings (open access), indexed in major academic databases
• Template: Elsevier paper template (TBC)
• Review: Reviewed by at least two reviewers, with a more thorough assessment against academic research-publication standards
• Publication timing: Expected to be available approximately two months after the conference
• Best suited to: Mature research suitable for formal academic publication, offering greater academic visibility and citation potential

Extended abstract – Separate proceedings:

• Format: Extended abstract with a more practice-focused emphasis (3–6 pages)
• Publication: Separate extended abstract proceedings (open access), published in an established repository such as Zenodo
• Template: Extended abstract template (download)
• Review: Reviewed by two reviewers, with emphasis primarily on technical content, relevance and quality
• Publication timing: Expected to be available at the time of the conference.
• Best suited to: Technical findings, applied work, case studies or preliminary results
